Avengers Campus at Disney's California Adventure Park
“The world needs more heroes…Avengers–Assemble!”
These are part of a welcome sign at the Avenger’s Campus entrance serving as a beckoning call to superhero lovers and superhero ‘wanna-be’s’ of all ages.
Welcome to the new home of Disney’s pantheon of Marvel Super Heroes, a place we love!
Avengers Campus is a spectacular new addition to Disney’s California Adventure Park just opened in June, 2021. It’s the new headquarters where our beloved superheroes work, organize, and train in their fight against the forces of evil. Among the attractions, Spiderman reigns supreme here. Our grandchildren were amazed watching this famed superhero performing acrobatic training including wall climbing and a thrilling animatronic vault across the rooftops.
WEB SLINGERS, Avengers Campus’ top attraction, is the big draw. Here we donned 3-D glasses to assist Spiderman in ridding the W.E.B. Laboratories of rapidly replicating Spider-Bots by shooting them with – yes, webs, using the same web-slinging motions of Spiderman himself. The graphics and action are impressive. So too is the device-free web-slinging action where riders sit abreast and rack up scores similar to the Toy Story Mania ride.
It’s important to note that this ride currently requires advance reservations through a virtual queue system just like the Rise of the Resistance attraction at next-door’s Disneyland.
The other main draw of Avengers Campus has been around a bit longer. Guardians of the Galaxy’s Mission Breakout is the re-themed and renovated Hollywood Tower of Terror ride. The attraction features fascinating indoor props, plenty of Guardian action, ending of course with randomized heart-stopping drops that thrill its screaming riders.
Avengers Campus is truly immersive. Craftily designed as an Avenger facility within the former Stark Enterprises (aka Iron Man) industrial complex, no detail is too minute. The famed Avenger’s Quintjet sits on a rooftop. Superheroes abound on and above Campus grounds. On our recent visit, we saw Iron Man, Thor, Loki, Black Panther, Spiderman, and several other heroes interacting with their admiring fans.
Other on-campus facilities include Pym Tasting Lab and Pym Test Kitchen. At the Tasting Lab, guests enjoy beverages, brews, incredibly creative cocktails, and snacks. Among the highlights is a dispenser that fills beer cups from the bottom up. How? We’re not quite sure! The Test Kitchen offers selections of supersized pretzels and gigantic chicken sandwiches as well as micro-sized food items, compliments of Pym’s scientific molecular resizing technology.
Other food venues include Terran Treats just outside Mission Breakout and the famed Shawarma Palace kiosk where the Avenger’s love to dine. The Shawarmas are incredible, and a must-try for Campus visitors.
There always seems to be superhero activity on the Campus. We especially enjoyed the fierce female warriors of Wakanda demonstrating their skills. Another highly entertaining act is the Dr. Strange performance, an interactive story filled with fabulous feats of magic and sorcery. Check scheduled times and arrive early for a great viewing spot.
Shopping options are limited on Campus with a small W.E.B. Suppliers outlet offering Spiderman merchandise including those notorious Spider-Bot robots. However, a massive jus- off-campus Avenger’s Store inside Stage 17 in California Adventure’s Hollywood Land hosts a magnificent array of Marvel character clothing, toys, and memorabilia guaranteed to delight superhero shoppers of all ages.
While Avengers Campus isn’t very large, it packs quite a punch with adoring fans. It really is a perfect addition to Disneyland’s California Adventure Park.
